An
intersectional
approach to therapy
individuals + relationships
Isolation & heightened anxiety are too common for those living with marginalized identities
Do you often feel like you are on the outside looking in?
Like you’re invisible? Like you’re “too much”?
Like you’re screaming, but no one can hear you?

Kelly Hill
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Working toward AASECT certification in sex therapy and sex education
Living with a chronic illness and raising a young adult with a rare genetic disorder and developmental disability have profoundly shaped my perspective. Additionally, my experiences with poverty and my status as a first-generation college graduate have fostered a deep understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized populations. These lived experiences, along with a consideration of my privileged identities, inform my work and my commitment to social justice.
I approach our work together with empathy, compassion, and authenticity
I have 16 years of working in social services prior to going into private practice. For six of those years I worked in community mental health agency & medical settings. In addition, I have a long history of involvement with the HIV community where I’ve spent many years working with and supporting folks living with HIV. Lastly, I understand the caregiving role & the toll it can take on one’s overall well-being and sense of identity.
My priority is to understand your needs & how I can best support you
My approach is Intuitive. It is also existential, person-centered, and strengths-based. I am a trained death doula, so I also bring that learning to our work together. I believe we heal in connection with others and when we are in alignment with our authentic selves. It can be easy to think that you need to prove yourself and your worth when faced with multiple barriers in life, but that constant proving becomes exhausting over time. I can help you experience a more empowered and liberated life.
I am rooted in harm reduction / disability justice / anti-oppression / anti-racism
Understanding the impacts of systemic oppression, trauma, & stigma on our individual experience of self is critical.
Through my practice I hope to offer you a space that feels safe & non-judgmental.
Here you are able to reduce feelings of shame and increase self-esteem.

ADHD/Highly Sensitive/Autism/Asperger’s
This group is a safe space for neurodivergent women to discuss the challenges of navigating neurodivergence in a neurotypical world, share resources, and learn new skills. There is healing power in peer support and groups can be excellent way to fill in the gaps in care. Some topics to be discussed: relationships, shame, imposter syndrome, work life, and executive functioning.

Policies
It is practice policy that clients give 24 hour notice for rescheduled sessions, or will be billed for a missed session. Clients arriving 10 minutes or later will be considered missing the session and will not be seen, unless other arrangements have been made prior.
Services
Telehealth and in-person are offered, individual and couples counseling available. The office is ground level and wheelchair accessible. Fidgets & sensory items are available. I have a HEPA filter in the office.
It is typical that we meet weekly for six months to a year, and then move to every other week, depending on client’s needs.
Insurance & Payment
I do not accept insurance, but can provide you with a “Superbill”, which you can use with some insurance companies who will reimburse you for seeing therapists out of network (OON).
You may alternately use your HSA or FSA card to pay for therapy. This is pre-tax income.
Sliding scale is available.
E.i.p
I am currently contracted with EIP. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is Washington State's AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).

good faith estimate
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and facilities are required to provide individuals who do not have health insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the anticipated bill for medical items and services upon request or at the time of scheduling. This is called a “Good Faith Estimate.”
Note: This does not currently apply to any clients who are using insurance benefits, including "out of network benefits” (i.e., submitting superbills to insurance for reimbursement).
Clients have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” which outlines the total expected cost of services. The Good Faith Estimate works to show the cost of services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created.
The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur and will be provided a new "Good Faith Estimate" should this occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill if you and your therapist have not previously talked about the change and you have not been given an updated good faith estimate.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” at least 1 business day before your service. You can also ask your provider, and any other provider you choose, for a “Good Faith Estimate” before you schedule service.
Be sure to save a copy of your “Good Faith Estimate.” For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

** I live in a disabled household and run on crip time. This means my email response time may be 3-4 days. “crip time” is a disability community phrase of sustainability that disrupts and challenges ableist expectations of productivity, time, and being. As disabled people we move at a different pace - your grace and understanding are appreciated.
